Eagles Finish Historic Regular Season
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury’s women’s tennis team closed out their regular season with a 9-0 victory over Indiana East in a non-conference match on Friday afternoon. The Eagles finish with a school best 18-5 record after their fourth victory over IUE this season.
Malory Hurtle and Sarah Marshall won for the 13th time this season in the top doubles spot, 8-4 over Kristi Henderson and Cheltsi Hinners. Jordan Myers and Miriam Waslewski won 8-0 in the second spot in doubles, playing together for only the third time, they have not been defeated.
Morgan Amis and Jamie Johnson partnered together for the first time won in the third position 8-1. Asbury finishes with an astounding 43-20 mark in doubles matches on the season.
In singles Asbury didn’t drop a set as they swept the Red Wolves for the fourth time this season, it was the ninth time overall that they haven’t dropped a match.
Jordan Myers improved to 12-9-1 with a 7-6(5), 6-1 victory over Kristi Henderson. Malory Hurtle won in the second slot 6-3, 6-2 to bump her overall record to 14-5-1. Sarah Marshall took down Brittany Bueter 6-1, 6-2 at the third spot and now sits at 13-7-1 overall and 6-5 playing number three.
In an extremely impressive season freshman Miriam Waslewski improved to 21-1-1 overall with a 6-0, 6-0 victory playing at number four. Morgan Amis and Jamie Johnson won at the five and six spots in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Amis is now 16-6-1 overall, while Johnson improves to 1-1.
