Eagles Suffer First Loss
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury was beaten for the first time this year, losing to Indiana Southeast 7-1 in a match that was continued from September 30th. Number three doubles was tied at 6-6 when it was called due to darkness.
Asbury’s (8-1, 4-1 KIAC) only win came at #5 singles as Miriam Waslewski won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Waslewski stays perfect on the year with the win, improving to 9-0 in singles and 6-0 at the #5 position.
The Eagles suffered tough losses in #4 and #6 singles as Britannia Hormel dropped a three setter after winning the first and Morgan Amis lost in a second set tie-break after leading it. Asbury couldn’t put together a doubles win for the first time this season as Mallory Hurtle and Sarah Marshall lost at #1 8-2 and Jordan Myers and Hormel lost at #2 8-6.
Asbury will get a chance to extract revenge for their only defeat of the season as they travel to New Albany, Ind. to take on the Grenadiers at 4:30 pm on Thursday October 6th.
