Eagles Cruise Past IUE 9-0, Improve to 8-0
RICHMOND, Ind. – The Eagles took all nine matches for the second time this year against Indiana University East on Saturday morning in improving to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Every player that has played singles this year now has a singles record at or above .500 for the year as Jordan Myers won at #1 6-2, 6-0 against Kristi Henderson. Myers is now 4-4 in her first year in the program after transferring from Grace College Myers’ play at #1 has allowed Mallory Hurtle to drop down to #2 where she is 5-1 this year after winning 6-2, 6-0 on Saturday.
Miriam Waslewski is the only remaining unbeaten for the Eagles in singles as she won 6-0, 6-0 over Lizzie Shepherd at #4. Waslewski is now 2-0 at #4, 1-0 at #3 and 5-0 at #4. Sarah Marshall played at #3 on Saturday and won 6-2, 6-1, improving 5-3 overall. Chelsea Linhart won #6 by default.
The duo of Marshall and Hurtle are 6-2 this season at #1 doubles after their 8-4 win over Kristi Henderson and Brittany Bueter. Linhart and Kate Wenger teamed for the first time this year at #2 and won 8-1 while Myers and Waslewski won by default at #3.
The Eagles will finish their match from September 30th against Indiana University Southeast on Tuesday October 5th at 5:00 pm at home.
