Eagles Stay Hot, Down Geneva 8-1

Wilmore, KY – Asbury’s tennis team continues to roll, taking down Geneva College (Pa.) 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.  The Eagles improve to 5-0 to start the season.

Asbury once again swept doubles, winning #1 8-2, #2 8-2, and #3 8-3.  Chelsea Linhart and Miriam Waslewski remain perfect at 5-0 playing at #3 while Mallory Hurtle and Sarah Marshall improve to 4-1 at #1 and Jordan Myers and Britannia Hormel get above .500 at 3-2.

Hormel and Waslewski remain perfect in singles competition as Hormel won at #4 on Saturday 6-3, 7-6 (3) against Cassie Califf and Waslewski won at #5 6-2, 6-4.  Asbury has not lost a singles match at 4 or 5 this season.  Jordan Myers won for the second consecutive day at #1, improving to 2-3 on the season in a 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 three-set match.  Malory Hurtle and Sarah Marshall improve to 3-1 and 3-2 respectively this year with straight set victories.

Asbury will next be in action on Tuesday September 21st as they host College of Mount Saint Joseph at 4:00 pm.  Asbury won an earlier match-up this year 6-3.
