Swimmers Open Up With Win
Wilmore, Ky. - The Asbury College Eagles swim team opened the season today with the women swimming against Brenau University and Campbellsville University, while the men took the pool against Lindsey Wilson.
The women were led by first place finishes by senior Abigail Sterneman (50 Free, 100 Breast), junior Lindsay Keyes (1000 Free), sophomores Larissa Martin (100 Fly, 200 IM), Ellen Worsham (100 Free), Hannah Amstutz (500 Free), and freshman Ranay Ray (200 Free, 100 Back). The women placed first in the 200 Medley Relay (Ray, Sterneman, Martin, Allie Hubach) and the 200 Free Relay (Amstutz, Rachel Buchanan, Larissa Meadows, Worsham).
The men swam well and saw first places by juniors Matt Hood (50 Free, 100 Free), Alex Losekamp (100 Breast), Chris Lipka (100 Fly, tie 200 IM), sophomores Malachi Oyer (1000 Free), Brady Lewis (500 Free), and freshman Trevor Ehrenheim (100 Back, tie 200 IM). The men won the 200 Medley Relay (Ehrenheim, Losekamp, Hood, Blake Lawless) and the 200 Free Relay (Lipka, Oyer, Nathan Runtas, Tyler Decker).
The women posted a win against both Brenau and Campbellsville, giving the women a 2-0 record. The men finished with a strong win against Lindsey Wilson, posting a season opening with a 1-0 record.
The Eagles will hit the waters next Saturday, October 17, with a home meet against Bellarmine University and Union College at 1:00 pm.
