Swimming Signs Buchanan

Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College Athletics Department along with the swimming and diving team are pleased to announce the signing of Rachel Buchanan from York, Pennsylvania.  Buchanan swims the 50, 100, 200, and 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, as well as the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. 

She place 6th in her county, 8th in her district, and 22nd in state in the 200 freestyle.  She also fared well in the 500 freestyle, placing 7th in county, 8th in district, and 29th in state.  Her team finished 3rd in district and 6th in state.  She was also part of the 200 freestyle relay team that finished 4th at state and set a new school record.

Head coach Dorothy Kempf thinks that Buchanan will add to the team in more ways than one.  "We are very excited about having Rachel come to Asbury and join our swimming team.  She is a wonderful addition to our team athletically, academically, socially, and spiritually."

Buchanan plans to pursue a degree in either Elementary or Secondary Education.
