Bulldogs Shut Down Eagles in Tennessee
JACKSON, Tenn. - The Asbury women's soccer team traveled to Jackson, Tenn., for a matchup against Union University and couldn't find the scoring combination in a 1-0 loss to the host Bulldogs.
The Eagles managed just one shot on goal over the entire 90 minutes of play against a team that seemingly prides itself on a stalwart defense. Through seven games this season and despite a 2-1-3 record, the Bulldogs had given up just seven goals.
Lizzie Hoffa kept her team in it for most of the contest as she again collected a multitude of saves to keep the contest close. She absorbed the loss despite facing 17 shots, six of which were on goal.
Jenna Bird collected the only shot on goal for the Eagles.
The Eagles were coming off a classic 3-2 win over Carlow University on Saturday and were looking to string back-to-back wins together for just the second time this season. Prior to Tuesday afternoon's contest the Eagles were 4-2 in their last six contests.
The Eagles will get back at it ten days from now as they hit the final six games of their 2013 regular season. The Eagles have three remaining KIAC contests and three out-of-conference tests to finish the season.
They start with a game against Georgetown College on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in Georgetown.
