Holland Scores One in Each Half, Eagles Beat St. Catherine
ST. CATHERINE, Ky. - The Eagles (2-4) found their way to the winning column again Monday night, again largely in part to Cassie Holland.
The KIAC Offensive Player of the Week this week, Holland scored two goals against St. Catherine to complement Saturday's three assist performance against Oakland City University. The goals came in the 9th and 87th minutes of the contest--the second was via a penalty kick.
The sophomore forward is starting to put together a break-out type of run for the Eagles. After posting just one goal and one assist a season ago and being held without a point through the first four games of the season, Holland has seven points in two games.
"We moved Cassie to an outside-mid [Saturday] and she really had her way with them all day," head coach Brooke Lincoln said following Saturday's win against OCU. "She really created some good opportunities for us all day."
But, Holland's stat line wasn't the only impressive piece from Monday night's victory. Lizzie Hoffa pitched her first career shutout for the Eagles in goal with 11 saves.
The Eagles' last shutout came against Midway (Ky.) College in the second to last game of the season last year.
Meredith Ury collected an assist in the game off Holland's tally in the 9th minute.
The Eagles will get three days off before heading to nearby Campbellsville, Ky., for a matchup with Cambellsville University.
