Brooke Lincoln Named Women's Soccer Coach
WILMORE, KY. — Asbury University Athletic Director Mark Purdue recently announced that Brooke Lincoln has been named women’s soccer head coach. Lincoln becomes the fourth women’s soccer coach and the first female head coach since the program began in 2001.
“We are very excited to add Brooke Lincoln to our staff as the head coach of our women’s soccer program,” Perdue said. “Brooke brings a lot of energy and drive to pursue excellence in everything she does. She is a great fit for our department and our culture at AU.”
In 2012 Lincoln helped Belhaven reach the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time after joining the league in 2010. The Blazers finished 8th in the highly competitive conference that had the top seed in the NAIA National Tournament.
During Lincoln’s two years with the Blazers, she handled recruiting in the south region as well as in the state of Mississippi. Although a graduate assistant, Lincoln was the only assistant coach on staff and often ran training sessions. She was also charged with coordinating summer camps, bringing in more than 400 campers during the course of the summer as well as 10 teams.
Prior to joining the staff at Belhaven, Lincoln was the head girls’ soccer coach at Terry High School in Terry, Miss. for two years. At Terry, Lincoln guided the squad to the state Final Four for the first time in school history and garnered a ranking as high as No. 6, finishing the year at No. 12.
“Asbury is a beautiful place and the athletic department shares my vision for using sports as a platform to share the love of Jesus Christ,” Lincoln said. “I plan for the program to become a program where players have an unforgettable experience and acquire life skills that will help them become strong women. I knew Asbury was the place for me because I can combine my passion for coaching and ministry.”
“To get this position is truly a dream come true,” Lincoln added. “I am excited for the challenge that lies ahead of running a collegiate program and putting my signature on the program.”
Lincoln takes over a program that finished 5-12-1 last year and 3-3 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Asbury women’s soccer program has won six KIAC regular season titles and five KIAC Tournament titles since 2006.
In addition to her coaching duties Lincoln will also serve as a Building Supervisor for the Luce Center, the home to Asbury Athletics and the Health, Physical Education and Recreation department. The Luce Center also serves the surrounding community with memberships for the weight room, pool, gymnasium and racquetball courts.
