Women's Soccer Places Five on NAIA Scholar Athlete List
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Friday that 492 women's soccer student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. Asbury placed five on the team, the same number they had last year.
Asbury’s five recipients include two seniors and three juniors. Both seniors, Emily Popp and Sarah Smith make the team for the second straight year while juniors Andera Hasik, Casey Greer and Victoria Thompson are all first-time selections.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference placed 16 on the team. Graceland (Iowa) leads all institutions with nine individuals on the list.
