Late Rally Ends Short for Eagles

Meredith UryWILMORE, Ky. – A late rally came up just short as the Eagles fell to Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday 3-2 in soccer action.  The Eagles were down 3-0 early in the second half before scoring twice after the 70th minute.

Casey Greer knocked home her third goal of the season in the 74th minute.  Meredith Ury added her first of the season in the 86th but it was too late for the Eagles to come all the way back after the 3-0 hole.  Maddy Nagy scored the first goal of the match in the 10th minute, her first of the season for LMU and Samantha Hilliard added her first of the season in the 34th to give the RailSplitters a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.  Josefin Hedstrom added what ended up the game-winner in the 67th minute.

Lincoln Memorial (5-2) took 20 shots to Asbury’s 14 in the match and put 14 on goal.  Asbury had eight shots on goal.  Ury led the team with four shots and tied with Rebekah Blackburn with three shots on goal apiece.  LMU also held the advantage in corners at three to one.

Asbury will host Trevecca Nazarene on Friday at 6pm in the first game of a men’s-women’s doubleheader.  The men will follow at 8pm against Brescia.
