Batey's Four Goals Lead Eagles Past Berea

Rebecca BateyBEREA, Ky. – Rebecca Batey scored four times as the Eagles rolled over Berea 10-0 on Wednesday night.  The win is the first for the Eagles this season.  Asbury is 24-1 in KIAC matches since the start of the 2006 season and has claimed the last six KIAC regular season titles.

Batey’s four goals are the most in a single game in school history for the women’s program and gives her 53 career goals, only the second person to score over 50 goals in her career.  The senior knocked home the first goal in the 24th minute and followed with three goals in the second half including a penalty kick in the 52nd minute. 

Freshmen Jenna Bird and Kathryn Hale scored their first career goals in the match, Bird’s came in the 29th minute and Hale added hers in the 56th.  Bird also assisted on the first goal of the game and Hale added two assists as well.  Sara Menges also recorded her first career assist on Hale’s goal.  Casey Greer and Andrea added two goals as well. 

The Eagles will return home to host Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday at 7 pm.  The Wildcats are currently receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll.
