Taylor Claims 5-0 Win over Women's Soccer
WILMORE, Ky. – Taylor University spoiled Asbury’s hope for their first win of the season on Saturday as the Trojans shutout the Eagles 5-0. Asbury is 0-3 on the young season as Taylor improves to 4-1.
The Eagles are still searching for their first goal of the season after being shutout for the third straight game. Taylor scored early and often, netting the first goal in the 8th minute as Anna Mercaldo scored her first goal of the season. Five different players scored for Taylor in the match.
Asbury was able to get several chances in front of the goal but unable to connect. Freshman Jenna Bird led the team with two shots, both on goal. Lizzie Hoffa made four saves for the Eagles. Taylor out-shot Asbury 19-3.
The Eagles will have a week and a half to regroup before their next game, on September 19 at Berea to open KIAC play. They return home on September 22 to host Indiana Wesleyan.
