Eagles Fall on Late Tiger Goal

Box Score | Season Stats

Rebecca BateyWILMORE, Ky. – The six-time defending KIAC champions are 0-2 for the fifth straight year after falling to Campbellsville 1-0 on Tuesday night.  The Eagles have been down this path before after slow starts and have won 10 or more matches in three of their previous four 0-2 starts.

There weren’t a lot of chances for either team in this game with both teams combining to put only nine shots on goal.  The Eagles are still searching for their first goal of the season as they work in a lot of young players.  Asbury started four freshmen in the match including Lizzie Hoffa in goal.  Hoffa made four saves.

The lone goal in the match came late, in the 85th minute as Jessica Ralph beat the Asbury defense and slide a ball by Hoffa into the back of the net.  Asbury had a chance late as they maintained possession deep in Campbellsville territory but their best shot was a header by Cassie Holland that was cleared out by the Tiger defense.

Asbury will host Taylor on Saturday at 1 pm.
