Bateys Earn NCCAA All-American Honors
WILMORE, Ky. – Junior twins Rebecca and Jessica Batey have been named National Christian College Athletic Association 1st Team All-Americans. The Bateys join Miranda Wiley as the only 1st Team selections in school history.
This is the first time since 2009 that two players have been named All-Americans in the same year, when Rebecca was named an Honorable Mention selection and Wiley was a 1st Team selection.
Rebecca, a forward, led the team with 16 goals on the season as the Eagles recorded 13 wins and a 4th place finish at the NCCAA National Tournament, their highest in five appearances. Rebecca is one goal away from becoming the school’s second 50-goal scorer. She would also be named NCCAA Mid-East Region Player of the Year.
Jessica, a defender, was also named KIAC Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament team along with goalkeeper Maegan Rogers after the Eagles allowed only three goals in three games in Florida. Jessica would also score four goals on the season.
Both Bateys were KIAC All-Conference selections this year, the third straight selection for Rebecca and the second for Jessica. They were also NCCAA Mid-East All-Region selections along Rogers. Head coach Paul Nesselroade was named Mid-East Coach of the Year.
