Eagles Claim 5th Title

Women's SoccerMIDWAY, Ky. – For the fifth time in six years the Asbury women are KIAC Tournament Soccer Champions, defeating Cincinnati Christian 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.  The Eagles’ only loss in the KIAC tournament over the last six years was in the title game to CCU last year.

Kait Rogers knocked home the game-winner in the second half after Asbury lost a 2-0 lead.  It was not only the first game-winner for the freshman, but also her first career goal.  Jessica Batey and Andrea Hasik would add their own goals in the first half, Batey on a penalty kick after her sister, Rebecca, was taken out on the previous play.  Hasik would add her goal with just four minutes left in the half.

Cincinnati Christian (8-10) would net their first goal just before the half, to make it 2-1 at the break.  They would tie the game after a foul above the box gave them a free kick from about 20 yards out.

Asbury (12-8) will turn their attention to the NCCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament to be held on the weekend of November 19th.  Due to Brescia dropping women’s soccer the KIAC falls under the mandatory six members to receive a berth to the NAIA Tournament.  The Mid-East Regional site is yet to be determined and will be announced as soon as it is made available.
