Lady Railsplitters Take Down Eagles
HARROGATE, Tenn. – Asbury’s struggles continue on the road as Lincoln Memorial handed the Eagles a 5-1 loss on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles are now 0-7 on the road this year with one more regular season road game.
Lincoln Memorial (5-5-2) built a three-goal halftime lead by controlling the ball. The Lady Railsplitters would take 33 shots in the game, including 14 in the first half. Asbury (7-7) keeper Maegan Rogers made a season-high 14 saves in goal. The Eagles took only four shots in the game, putting three on goal.
Freshman Samantha Chanda scored her first career goal for the Eagles in the 86th minute off a feed from fellow freshman Meredith Ury. Ury now leads the team with five assists on the season. That goal made the game 4-1 before Lincoln Memorial added the final goal in the 89th minute.
The Eagles return home next Wednesday at 7 p.m. to host Midway College in a pivotal KIAC battle. Asbury is 2-0 in conference games and Midway sits at 2-1.
