Batey, Rogers Take KIAC Honors

BEREA, Ky. – Asbury University senior goalkeeper Maegan Rogers and junior forward Rebecca Batey were named the KIAC women’s soccer defensive and offensive players of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, October 3rd.  This is the second time Rogers and Batey have taken player of the week honors during the same week this season, as they also were honored on September 5th.

Asbury finished the week with a 2-0 record after defeating Berea College 5-0 and Pikeville University 2-0. Rogers did not allow a single goal in 119 minutes of play last week. The senior currently leads the KIAC with a 2.56 goals against average.

Batey, who is second in career goals at Asbury, scored two goals in both contests last week bringing her career total to 40.  The junior forward leads the KIAC in goals scored with seven.

The Eagles currently have a 6-5 overall record and are 2-0 in conference play after defeating Mountain State on Monday. They will return to action on October 6th when they host Freed-Hardeman University.
