Soccer Rolls Past Berea
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury cruised to their 11th straight KIAC win, beating Berea 5-0 on Thursday night. The Eagles are 20-1 in conference regular season games since 2006. Asbury also stopped a season-high three game losing streak in the process.
Asbury (4-5, 1-0 KIAC) scored early and often, netting the first goal just 1:37 into the match as Chelsie Waldron scored her first career goal. Brook Hadley would add one more before intermission, in the 33rd minute. The Eagles took a season-high 38 shots in the match, 26 in the second half.
In the second half the Eagles scored three more, two by Rebecca Batey. Batey now has a team-high five goals on the season and now gives her 38 for her career. Kaitlyn Hooper added a goal of her own, her third of the season. Berea (1-7, 0-3 KIAC) took only three shots in the match. Keeper Annie Hammel made 12 saves. The Eagles used three keepers on the night, combining for two saves and the team’s second shutout this year.
The Eagles will step out of conference on Saturday to host Pikeville at 4 p.m.
