Women's Soccer Releases 2011 Schedule
WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women’s soccer team has released their 2011 slate as announced by head coach Paul Nesselroade. Asbury is the defending five-time Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season champions. The Eagles will play half of their 18 games at the Asbury Soccer Complex on campus.
Asbury will play an Alumni match on Saturday August 20th at 12 p.m. before heading to St. Catharine for a scrimmage two days later. The regular season will open up on Friday August 26th as the Eagles head to Marion, Ind. to battle Indiana Wesleyan. Asbury will also play Taylor University the next day in Upland.
The home opener for the Eagles will see Oakland City come to Wilmore for a 4 p.m. match on September 1st. They will then host Bryan two days later on the 3rd. One week after that Covenant College comes to town for a 1 p.m. start.
Asbury will play two teams for the first time in school history, first on October 1st when they host Pikeville. That is the middle game of a three-game home stand where the Eagles will also host KIAC foes Berea on September 29th and Mountain State on October 3rd. The other first-time opponent is Tennessee Wesleyan who the Eagles battle when they travel to Athens, Tenn. on October 8th.
Senior day will once again be during Homecoming weekend as the University of the Cumberlands comes to Wilmore on Saturday October 29th for a 12:30 p.m. kick-off. Other notable home matches include KIAC foe Midway on October 19th and Georgetown on September 21st.
