Eagles Rout Berea

BEREA, Ky. – Asbury tied a school record for largest margin of victory in Monday’s 10-0 win over Berea College.  Rebecca Batey recorded her second hat-trick of the season as the Eagles scored their most goals since 2008.

Asbury (4-12, 4-0 KIAC) took an astounding 52 shots in the match, putting 47 on target.  The 10 goals are the second most in school history, trailing only Asbury’s 11-1 win over Brescia in October 2008.  Batey’s second straight game with a hat-trick give her 14 goals this season in 15 games.  Batey has scored 30 goals in her two seasons as an Eagle.

Rebecca’s twin sister, Jessica got into the mix as well with two goals of her own.  Bethany Russell added her fourth and fifth goals of the season as well as an assist.  Aly Crawford added a goal and an assist as did Casey Jackson, Jackson’s goal was her first.  Amy Dyer also scored for the Eagles and Jessie Smith notched her first assist of the season.

Wednesday’s match against Cincinnati Christian will decide who is the regular season champion and number one seed in the conference tournament.  Both teams are 4-0 in the KIAC, Asbury was won their games by a total of 27-2.  Wednesday’s match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm kick-off in Wilmore.
