Eagles Fall Short Against Union

WILMORE, Ky. – The Eagles missed several opportunities inside the 18-yard box that ultimately cost them in a 2-0 loss to Union University (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon.  Both of Union’s goals came in the second half.

The Eagles had good chances early and often as they forced Union keeper Sara White to make four saves in each half.  In the first half a beautiful service from the right wing forced White off her line but her punch didn’t clear the ball and the Eagles ensuing shot was missed high.

Early in the second half Jessica Batey had several chances in close range but again White made the saves.  Union scored in the 60th minute as Grace Boto shot from deep in the right corner off of the far post and into the net.  The Lady Bulldogs tacked on the final goal in the 85th minute when the Eagles were pushed up trying to equalize.

Union was whistled for offsides 14 times or they would have had more than 16 shots.  The Eagles got off 13 shots led by Jessica Batey’s four.  Maegan Rogers made four saves in goal for the Eagles.

Asbury will jump back into KIAC action on Wednesday October 20th at Midway.  Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
