Batey Leads Eagles to Easy Win

MIDWAY, Ky. – Rebecca Batey scored three goals as the Eagles rolled over Midway College in a KIAC match on Wednesday night 6-0.  Asbury (3-12, 3-0 KIAC) has now outscored conference opponents 17-2 in their three games.

Batey’s hat trick gives her a team-high 11 goals this season, marking the second straight season she has been in double-digits; she scored 16 goals last year as a freshman.  Batey scored two goals in the first half to help the Eagles to a 3-0 lead at the break, she would score her third early in the second half.

Three Asbury players would pick up their third goal of the season as Bethany Russell, Aly Crawford, and Jessica Batey each scored.  Kelli Dierdorf and Kat Leibbrandt would each add an assist during the match.  Asbury took 35 shots in the match compared to only five for Midway.

The Eagles have two games left inside the KIAC, with a road match against Berea on Monday and a home match against Cincinnati Christian next Wednesday October 27th.  Asbury and CCU are the only undefeated teams left in the KIAC and their match could determine if the Eagles can win their 5th straight regular season title.
