Eagles Bounce Back With 4-0 Victory
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury recorded their first shutout in a 4-0 win over Brescia University on Wednesday evening. Rebecca Batey scored two goals and Maegan Rogers pitched her first shutout of the season.
Asbury (2-8, 2-0 KIAC) improves to 15-1 in the KIAC since 2006, including out-scoring opponents 11-2 in this season’s two games. Batey scored the first goal on a penalty kick in the 16th minute. She would add her second goal, and team leading eighth of the season in the 64th minute off a corner kick.
Aly Crawford registered one goal and two assists in the match. Both assists came off of corner kicks in the second half. Kara Selle scored off of the first corner. Crawford scored her second goal of the season in the 47th minute after a pass from Bethany Russell.
Maegan Rogers didn’t have to make a lot of saves, three, but still notched the team’s first clean sheet of the season. The Eagles controlled the game throughout, getting off 18 shots compared to only five for Brescia.
Asbury will host Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Friday at 7:00 pm.
