Eagles Land First Recruit for 2010

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury Athletics and the Women's Soccer team has signed their first recruit for 2010, Victoria Thompson from Mt. Airy, Maryland. Thompson was part of a very successful program at Urbana High School who won three conference championships, two region championships and one state championships.
Thompson was a mid-fielder/forward for the Hawks scoring one goal and one assist in her senior season. She played club soccer for Montgomery Soccer Club, which is one of the top club programs in Maryland and was also part of the Olympic Development Program in Maryland.
Thompson was not only an elite soccer player in high school but also an exceptional student as she was named a Scholar Athlete. She was also an AP Scholar, Maryland Distinguished Scholar, and a National Merit Honorable Mention. Thompson was a National Honor Society member, served on missions trips to Honduras, and was an active member of her church.
The Asbury Women's Soccer program has won four straight KIAC Championships and competed in the NAIA Tournament for the first time in school history in 2009. Coach Paul Nesselroade's squad has a 52-34-3 overall record over the past four years and a 14-1 mark in KIAC play.
