Asbury To Play For 4th Straight Title

Wilmore, Ky. - Jessica Batey scored two goals as the Eagles took care of Midway 3-0 in the first semi-final of the KIAC Tournament on Friday afternoon. The Eagles will play for their fourth straight tournament title Saturday at 2:00 pm against Brescia who beat Cincinnati Christian 2-1 in double overtime.

Asbury (13-6) controlled the game much like they did against Midway back on October 13th when they won 2-0. Batey scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute when the defense failed to clear the ball. Batey would add her second goal of the game in the 85th minute after a beautiful pass form Ashley Amburgy set her up with a one-on-one opportunity.

Bethany Russell scored the second goal of the game in the 52nd minute when she ripped one into the upper right corner, beating Brittany Wright. Asbury has won the KIAC Regular Season four straight years and will look to add their fourth straight Tournament crown on Saturday. They will also look to tie the team record for wins in a season at 14 which happened at the start of this four year run in 2006. With that win on Friday Coach Paul Nesselroade moves above .500 with Asbury at 68-67 in seven seasons.
