Wiley's Hat Trick Leads Eagles
Cincinnati, Ohio - Miranda Wiley scored three goals including two in the second half as Asbury pulled away from Cincinnati Christian for a 5-0 victory. Asbury led 1-0 at the break then scored three goals in the first 25 minutes of the second half to pull away.
Asbury (9-6, 4-0) had trouble in the first half as the Eagles scored their only goal of the half in the final five minutes; Wiley received a cross from Jess Young and buried it into the net. With that assist Young now has 10 on the season, more than any other Eagle player in a single season.
After halftime the flood gates opened up, Wiley added her second goal of the night within the first moments of the half. Then Wiley found fellow senior Ashley Amburgy who rifled a shot from 20 yards out for her fourth goal of the season. Rebecca Batey added a goal and Wiley added her third to give her 16 on the season off a pass from Molly Phillips.
Asbury has one more KIAC match remaining against Brescia in Owensboro on Thursday October 22 at 7:00 pm. The Eagles have only allowed one goal in conference play this season and has an aggregate of 21-1. Asbury is vying for their fourth straight KIAC regular season title, and has only dropped one conference match over the last four years.
Asbury's senior day will be during Homecoming weekend, October 31st at 12:30 pm as they host Covenant College (Ga.).
