Early Goal Dooms Eagles

Jackson, Tenn. - This time Asbury gave up an early goal as the Eagles fell on the road 2-0 to Union University on Saturday afternoon.  Asbury gave up a goal in the 2nd minute one day after scoring a goal within the first minute in a win over Trevecca on Friday.

Asbury (4-6) didn't get off a lot of shots in the match, only seven, but made them count, putting five on frame.  Union would put up 15 shots and Asbury keeper Melanie Dickson would come up with eight saves.  The Eagles would fight back in the first half after giving up the early goal but just couldn't come up with a goal of their own.

Union would add their second goal ten minutes into the second half to make the final score 2-0.  Asbury is now 2-4 on the road and 2-2 at home this season.  The Eagles were in a similar position last year, starting the season at 3-6 before winning five of their next six and finishing the season at 13-10-1.

Asbury is scheduled to start conference play this next weekend as they host Mountain State on Saturday October 3rd at 4:00 pm.
