Eagles Fall to Colonels 4-1
Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury allowed three second-half goals that cost them their first win of the season as they lost at home to Centre 4-1 on Tuesday night. The Eagles are now 0-3 on the year.
Asbury's offense was quiet again against the Colonels despite scoring their first goal of the season, a cross from Ashley Amburgy (Jamestown, Ohio) to Rebecca Batey (Maysville, Ky.) who fired one in from 20 yards out. That 20th minute score tied the game at 1, which stayed that way until the second half.
Asbury finished the game with only six shots and didn't force Centre keeper Rosie McAuley to make any saves. Centre had 13 total shots and seven on goal.
Centre's first goal came in the 4th minute as Cindy Bergstrom knocked in a header off a cross deep in the corner from Brittany Garr. Garr then added the game winner in the 55th minute as she chipped over Asbury keeper Melanie Dickson. Amy Hebbeler and Brittany Eisner added a goal each to make the final 4-1.
The Eagles continue their home stretch by hosting Bryan College at 8:00 pm on Friday September 4th, and Bluefield College Saturday September 5th at 4:00 pm. Bluefield and Campbellsville will play at 6:00 pm on Friday and Campbellsville and Bryan will hook up Saturday at 2:00 pm.
