Batey Leads Eagles' Rally Past Taylor

Upland, Ind. - Rebecca Batey scored two goals as the Eagles came from behind in the second half to even their record with a 4-3 win over Taylor University. The Eagles have won three straight after starting the season 0-3.

Batey (Maysville, Ky.) got the scoring started in the 5th minute after receiving a pass from Jess Young. Batey would add her second goal, and team-leading sixth of the season, in the 52nd minute after Aly Crawford set her up. That goal tied the score at 3 after the Eagles surrendered a 2-1 halftime lead. Crawford would add the game winner in the 66th minute and Young would get her second assist of the game.

Crawford scored the second goal of the game in the 38th minute off a pass from Miranda Wiley. That gave Asbury a 2-1 lead at the break. The Eagles would surrender the lead early in the second half with two goals Allison Guion, who had all three for Taylor on the afternoon.

The Eagles were outshot 21-9 but made their opportunities count with seven shots on goal. Asbury keeper Melanie Dickson saved nine shots despite allowing three goals.

Asbury will stay on the road tomorrow night as they travel to Marion, Indiana to battle #17 Indiana Wesleyan University at 7:00pm.
