Soccer Awards Announced, Women to Play in NCCAA's Today
Wilmore, KY---The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced their soccer season awards and Asbury was well represented. Four Eagles were on the All-Conference team and two were named to the All-Region team. Freshmen Julian Botella, sophomore Jonathan Lewis, junior Seth Eckert, and senior Jason U'Wren were named to the All-Conference team, and Botella and Lewis were selected to the All-Region team. The Eagles finished second in the conference in both the regular season and the KIAC Tournament.
The women had five girls named to the All-Conference team. Freshmen Jessica Young, sophomore keeper Maegan Rogers, and juniors Ashley Amburgy, Carol Fogler, and Miranda Wiley all received the honor. Wiley was also named Offensive Player of the Year by the coaches. The Eagles won the conference with a 12-8-1 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the conference. Asbury also won the KIAC Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Mountain State. The Eagles will take part in the NCCAA National Tournament this week, playing their first match today at 2:30 pm in Kissimmee, Florida against Trinity International University.
