Eagles Win on Senior Night
Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College women's soccer team bounced back with a win on senior night, defeating Shawnee State 3-0. Five players were honored after the game, Laura Fellows, Laura Calkins, Emily Rehner, Kris Barennes, and Kelly Wilson.
Asbury (9-8-1) scored early when Miranda Wiley got a pass from Kris Barennes in the middle of the field and found the back of the net. It would stay a one goal game until the second half when Laura Fellows scored off a Katie Crocker missed shot. Meghan Gudgeon would add the final goal with seven minutes left.
The five players were presented flowers after the match, and Coach Nessleroade expressed what the players have meant to the program. "I am greatly indebted to these players for the work and sacrifices they have made. They truly have been a blessing to me and to the program. They will be missed."
The Eagles will next be in action in the KIAC Tournament. They will be the top seed after a 3-1 conference record, they hold the tie-breaker over Mountain State who is also 3-1 because of Asbury's victory over Mountain State. The tournament is set to begin November 7th.
