Eagles Win Easily 11-1

Wilmore, KY---The Asbury College women's soccer team scored early and often on a rain soaked evening to beat KIAC opponent Bresica 11-1. Juniors Ashley Amburgy and Miranda Wiley would both record hat tricks on the evening.

Asbury (7-6) has now won a season-high four in a row, and also is above .500 for the first time all season.

Amburgy scored three goals in the Eagles 11-1 win over Brescia Tuesday night. The junior from Jamestown, Ohio now has 6 goals and two assists on the season.

The Eagles' first goal was from Ashley Amburgy in the 6th minute, Laura Fellows had the assist. Just four minutes later Miranda Wiley would add her first goal of the evening, again an assist to Fellows. Wiley and Amburgy would add their second goals of the night at 16 and 20 minutes. Carol Fogler would cap off the first half scoring with a goal right before halftime.

The second half was much of the same, Wiley and Amburgy would cap their own scoring 30 seconds apart from each other in the 55th minute. After that they would both be pulled for the remainder of the match. Meghan Gudgeon adder her second career goal in the 64th minute off a pass from Amanda Bechtel. Bechtel would then add two goals of her own, one assist to Carol Fogler and another to Jen Mendelson. Kat Barennes would add her first goal of the season in the 76th minute off a deflection.

Brescia scored their lone goal when Paige McDowell got loose on a breakaway and beat keeper Laura Calkins.

Asbury will have a much needed break as they won't hit the pitch again until October 17th when they travel to Milligan College. The Eagles return home Tuesday October 21st to battle Georgetown at 6pm.
