Soccer Loses at Home
Wilmore, KY--- The Asbury College women's soccer team lost 5-1 to NCAA II Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters Monday September 22. The Eagles have now lost two straight after winning three in a row.
Asbury (3-6) had a strong performance from their keepers with 15 total saves. Senior Laura Calkins started and was let down by the defense early as the Railsplitters scored three times in the first 15 minutes. Sophomore Maegan Rogers came off the bench in the second half and had six saves, Calkins had eight.
After falling behind early the Eagles fought back but just couldn't dig themselves out of the early hole. Asbury showed a lot of grit and determination but ultimately couldn't take advantage of their few chances.
The Eagles will travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky to take on the University of the Cumberlands Saturday in JV and varsity action. The JV match will start at 12 pm with the varsity at 2 pm. Asbury will return home during homecoming week with four matches the first one Wednesday October 1 against Lindsey Wilson.
