Asbury Receives Votes in NAIA Preseason Poll
Wilmore, Ky. - The Asbury College women's soccer team has received votes for the NAIA Top 25 Poll for the first time in school history. The Eagles are in the Others Receiving Votes Category with a total of three points.
Asbury has also been tabbed as the favorite in the KIAC this year after winning the last three regular and post-season titles. Brescia and conference newcomer Cincinnati Christian follow the Eagles with Mountain State, Midway, and Berea rounding out the conference preseason poll.
Last year Asbury finished 13-10-1 overall with a 3-1 mark in conference play. The Eagles won the KIAC tournament but did not pursue the NAIA National Tournament. Asbury instead chose to compete in the NCCAA National Tournament where they won for the first time in four trips, defeating Southern Wesleyan 1-0. The Eagles placed sixth at the tournament, their best finish to date.
The Eagles return six seniors including KIAC Player of the Year Miranda Wiley. Fellow Senior Ashley Amburgy returns as well as Junior Maegan Rogers and Sophomore Jessica Young who were all members of the KIAC Conference Team.
Asbury kicks-off their season Monday August 24th at home against Spring Arbor University at 4:00 p.m.
