Women's Soccer improves in conference with win

Asbury dominated play against Berea, recording 33 shots, 18 on-goal with a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks to secure a 5-0 win over Berea on Tuesday night. Sophomore Miranda Wiley began the scoring in the 24th minute with her fourth goal on the season. Wiley would set an Asbury milestone later in the game in the 45th minute with her second goal, becoming Asbury's all-time leading scorer with 27 career goals, surpassing Andrea Howell's 26 career goals from 2002-2006.

Outside Wiley's two goals, the night proved a chance for three other Eagles to get their first goals of the season. Junior Laura Fellows in the 31st minute, sophomore Ashley Amburgy in the 65th minute, and freshman Kathleen Barennes scoring her first collegiate goal in the 86th minute for the final margin. Amburgy assisted on Fellows' goal, while Katie Crocker and Amanda Bechtel also registered assists. Goalkeeping duties were split between Laura Calkins and Maegan Rogers with Calkins earning the start. Both keepers recorded two saves apiece.

The win puts Asbury at 7-8, 2-0 in the KIAC. The women next travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky to take on the University of the Cumberlands. They will play a JV match at 11:45 a.m. before the varsity match at 2:00 p.m. After that, the team heads to Owensboro for a conference championship showdown with Brescia on Wednesday, October 17th before returning home for Senior Night against Milligan (Tenn.) on Saturday, October 20th. Kick off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
