Women's Soccer falls at Mt. Vernon Nazarene, 6-0
Asbury hoped to exact some measure of revenge for a 4-1 loss in the 2006 NCCAA Tournament to Mt. Vernon, but the defending national champions proved too strong, winning 6-0. The Eagles were outshot for the game, 28-6 but registered four corner kicks to five for Mt. Vernon. The crucial moment in the match came near the end of the first half with the Eagles only trailing, 1-0 when they gave up the second Mt. Vernon goal with only :22 left until halftime.
The result puts Asbury at 4-7 overall with their conference record remaining 1-0 on the year. The team will travel to Barbourville, Ky. to take on Union College on Tuesday afternoon. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. The women will then turn around and play at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. on Wednesday before returning home for Homecoming Weekend to face Taylor (Ind.) University on Saturday. Game time on Saturday is set for 12:30 p.m.
