Combs 8th, Eagles 6th at Women's Golf Unaffiliated Tournament
ATHENS, Ala. – Asbury women’s golf wrapped up play in the NAIA Unaffiliated Tournament on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles placed sixth out of six teams, representing the KIAC and the TranSouth Conference. Bethel (Tenn.) won the tournament by 26 strokes and qualifies for the NAIA National Tournament.
Madison Combs shot a 171 (84-87) and finished 8th overall, just one stroke behind KIAC-leader Courntey Lucas from Brescia. Combs finished second in the KIAC last year as well. Hannah Griffin from Freed-Hardeman won the event with a 159 (78-81).
The Eagles combined to shoot a 795 (388-407) in the 36-hole tournament. The Eagles led Point Park for 5th place after 18 holes, but the Pioneers fired off a 369 on the final 18. Point Park finished with a 770 (401-369). Brescia had the best team score of KIAC schools, finishing 4th overall with a 719 (372-347).
For the Eagles Mary Beth Cunningham placed 23rd with a 196 (98-98) while Haley Kirk was 25th with a 208 (104-104. Jessica Blue shot a 220 (102-118).
