Eagles Take Fourth at Transy
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Asbury’s women’s golf team finished fourth out of five teams in the Transylvania Fall Classic held at the University Club of Kentucky’s Wildkat course. Amanda Smith finished in a tie for seventh, the first top-10 finish of the season for the team.
Smith, a freshman, shot an 88 on the par-72 course. Teammate Madison Combs finished just behind Smith in ninth place with an 89. This was Combs’ first top-10 finish of the season and the 11th of her career. Emily Javadi from Sewanee won the one-day tournament with a four-under 68.
Campbellsville took the team title with a score of 347, four strokes ahead of Sewanee. Asbury finished with a 371, just three shots back of Transy. Mt. St. Joseph finished fifth with a score of 374.
Asbury will next be in action on October 6 as they host the Asbury Fall Invitational with the men’s team at Connemara Golf Course in Nicholasville.
