Eagles Take Second, Combs Third in Spring Invite

Madison CombsNICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Eagles finished in second with a team score of 742 on Tuesday, the final day of competition in the Asbury Spring Invitational. Indiana Tech came away with the team victory, finishing with a score of 683. Brescia University placed third with a score of 762, Kentucky Wesleyan placed fourth with a score of 785, Pikeville College placed fifth with a score of 795, and St. Catharine College placed sixth with a score of 806.

Asbury’s Madison Combs placed third, after shooting a two day total of 83-85-168. Indiana Tech’s Megan Garrison placed first with a score of 160. Bretnea Turner (Brescia) placed second with a score of 167. Emily Thompson (Kentucky Wesleyan) and Haley Larson (Indiana Tech) rounded out the top-5 with a 170 and a 171 respectively.

Combs’ second round was highlighted by a birdie on the first hole. Over the course of the two day tournament, Combs recorded 15 pars to put her second in that statistical category for the entire field.

In addition to Combs’ 168 the Eagles recorded the following two day totals; Bethany Sonnier a 190, Emily Puckett at 191, Jessica Pence a 195, Sarah Hagen a 202, Meredith Robison a 206, and Jessica Blue a 225.

Asbury will resume play on Monday, April 16th when they travel to the Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Kentucky to take part in the Georgetown Tournament.
