Eagles Defeat Tigers, Take First at Cherry Blossom
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Asbury women’s golf claimed their second tournament victory of the season, defeating Georgetown College by nine-strokes in the Bluegrass Spring Invitational at Cherry Blossom Golf Course. The Eagles led by four after the first day of action and improved their team score by 19-strokes on day two.
Georgetown’s Marlene Nall ran away with the best individual score, posting a two-day 165 (83-82). Asbury’s Madison Combs and Emily Puckett tied for second with a 185. Combs improved after day one’s 97 to shoot an 88 on the second day. Puckett stayed consistent, tallying a 92 and a93. Jessica Pence posted an 89 on Tuesday as all four Eagles scored under 100 on the day and under 200 for the tournament.
Asbury will head to next week’s NAIA Unaffiliated Tournament with Brescia and members of the Mid-South Conference. The winner of the tournament will go on to the NAIA National Tournament.
