Eagles Take Second at Hanover

Jessica PenceHANOVER, Ind. – Asbury women’s golf placed second at the Hanover Spring Invitational.  Hanover won the one-day tournament and College of Mt. St. Joseph finished third. 

Freshman Jessica Pence led the Eagles with an 87, finishing third overall out of 20 golfers.  The Martinsville, Ind. native shot a 45on the front nine and finished strong with a 42 on the back nine.  Madison Combs finished sixth with a 90 for the Eagles.  Hanover’s Paige Schroeder won the event with an 82 on the par-72 5,800-yard course.

The Eagles had four golfers finish under 100 in a round for only the third time this season en route to a 367.  Hanover scored a 348 as their top-four all finished under 90.  Mt. St. Joseph had a 413.

The women’s next event won’t take place for another two weeks as they will not play in the Berea Invitational with the guys this weekend.  Both the men and women will host the Asbury Spring Invitational on April 9-10 at Connemara Golf Club in Nicholasville.
