Eagles Take Third at IUE Invite

RICHMOND, Ind. – Asbury’s women’s golf team defeated their first opponent of the season on Friday, finishing third in the Indiana University East Red Wolves Spring Invitational.  The Eagles’ 404 was 11 strokes better than hosts from IUE; Northwestern Ohio won the event by shooting a 370 and Brescia was second at 377.

Madison Combs finished in a tie for fourth place with a 93, shooting a 46 on the front and a 47 on the back nine.  Melissa Finch from UNOH won the event with an 11 over par 83.  Bethany Sonnier shot a 96 for Asbury and finished ninth. 

The Eagles will close out their season by hosting the Asbury Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday April 18th and 19th.  The KIAC coaches have elected to play this invitational as the conference match.  Play is set to begin at 1:00 pm on both days at Golf Club of the Bluegrass in Nicholasville.
