Flener Adds 10 to 2013-14 Roster
Women’s Basketball Introduces 10 Newcomers for 2013-14
WILMORE. Ky. – With the tip-off of the 2013-14 Women’s Basketball just around the corner, head coach Bart Flener announced the addition of 10 athletes to the roster for the upcoming season.
The Eagles, winners of 23 games a year ago, are looking to replace their top two point-getters in seniors Laura Carroll and Trenia Barbee with a combination of returning players and the 10 new additions to Flener’s squad.
All 10 incoming players hail from the Commonwealth. The incoming class lacks neither size nor scoring potential as three players are members of 1,000-point clubs at their respective schools and three student-athletes stand over six feet tall.
“I’m excited about this incoming class,” Flener said of his incomers. “We believe the strength of this recruiting class will help sustain the progress we have made in our women’s basketball program over the past few years.
“Our departing seniors left a legacy and were certainly a large part of our team last season,” the fifth-year head coach added. “But we have confidence that this group of student-athletes, when combined with our returning players, can continue to establish the prestige of AU Women’s Basketball”
