Carroll Named CoSIDA Academic All-District
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury University women’s basketball senior Laura Carroll has been named Capitol One Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Carroll is the first women’s basketball player to receive this honor.
Carroll (3.99 GPA, Elementary Education) has already become the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,562 points and at least six games left in the season. The Eagles will surely break the school record for wins for the second straight year after tying last year’s mark at 18 already this season. Carroll (Paintsville, Ky.) has been the catalyst behind the team’s success, scoring 17.3 points per game and leading the team with 77 assists. She also leads NAIA II in free throw percentage at 94.6. .
The Eagles are off this weekend before returning to the court on Tuesday at Berea. Asbury is currently second in the KIAC at 7-3, 18-7 overall.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, have at least a 3.30 GPA and be voted onto the teams by members of CoSIDA. Athletic and academic accomplishments are taken into account.
All Capital One (R) Academic All-District First Team honorees will have their names advance to the ballot for the Capital One (R) Academic All-American teams, which will be voted on by CoSIDA later this month
