Eagles Roll To Fourth Straight Win

Catie FletcherWILMORE, Ky. – Another game and another blowout for the Asbury women’s basketball team on Saturday, rolling over Ohio Christian 99-65.  The Eagles are averaging 102.5 points per game over their last four games, all wins. 

Asbury (10-3) is among the NAIA II leaders in points per game, ranking fifth heading into Saturday’s game at 86 points per game.  Trenia Barbee continued her spectacular week, scoring 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting and made 8-of-10 free throws.  The senior guard pulled down five rebounds and handed out five assists in 28 minutes of action.  Barbee is averaging 31 points per game over the three games this week and is currently second in the NAIA II with 24.2 points per game.

The Eagles shot 51 percent in the game against the Trail Blazers while OCU shot just 32 percent.  Both teams made seven three-pointers.  Asbury dominated the glass, pulling down 54 rebounds to just 35 for NCU.  Lakin Griffith led all players with eight rebounds for the Eagles. 

Laura Carroll scored 15 points and dished out seven of Asbury’s 19 assists.  Dorian Downs and Ellie Steiner were also in double figures with 10 points each.  Asbury had 12 players score in the game.  Ohio Christian was led by Shelby Roe with 25 points.

Asbury will take on Centre College on Thursday at 7 pm.
