Eagles Set for NCCAA Region Tournament

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Asbury women’s basketball will play for their first berth in the NCCAA National Tournament this weekend in the Mid-East Region Tournament hosted by Tennessee Temple.

The Eagles enter the tournament as the number two seed in the six-team tournament.  Fellow NAIA member Bluefield College enters as the top seed.  Asbury will open on Friday at 8 p.m. against the winner of Oakland City and Hiwassee College.  Bluefield will play the winner of Tennessee Temple and Covenant College.  The championship game is set for Saturday at 3 p.m.

Asbury is making their 5th appearance in the Mid-East Region Tournament and first since the 2002-03 season.  They are winless in four previous appearances.

The winner of the tournament advances to the National Tournament hosted by Grace College (Ind.) beginning on March 14.
