Griffith Nabs KIAC Player of the Week Honors
Asbury University junior Lakin Griffith was named the KIAC women’s basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, December 12th.
Asbury started the week with an 83-82 overtime loss to Taylor University, but rebounded with a pair of wins to close the week. The Eagles defeated Central Christian (Mo.) 86-58 and Ohio Christian University 89-82. Griffith averaged a double-double last week with 17.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per contest. She scored 25 points and grabbed 20 rebounds against Taylor University, marking only the second 20-20 game in school history. She recorded another double-double game with 18 points and 12 rebounds against Ohio Christian. The junior forward shot 53.8 percent from the field (21-of-39).
Asbury University has an overall record of 7-8. They will return to action in an exhibition game at Utah State University on January 3rd.
