Eagles Shoot Past Central Christian
WILMORE, Ky. – A three-point barrage propelled the Eagles to victory in the Zweifel/Pritchett Classic over Central Christian (Mo.) on Friday night, 86-58. Asbury connected on a season-high 15-of-35 attempts from beyond the three-point line.
Asbury (6-8) was paced by Ellen Gray’s 16 points on four-for-11 three point shooting. Gray was three-of-four in the second half. Gray would also hand out four assists as well as Trenia Barbee. Barbee also scored 14 points on seven-of-17 shooting.
The Eagles had five players in double-digits on the night as Ashlea Hollon and Dorian Downs came off the bench to score 11 each. Both would hit three threes on the night. Lakin Griffith also added 10 points.
Central Christian (6-6) turned the ball over 25 times, leading to 28 Eagle points. The Eagles scored 36 points off the bench compared to only five for the Saints. Mazie Dowdy and Kelsi Mueller each scored 15 points to lead the Saints.
Asbury had 13 players score in the game and 10 handed out an assist. The Eagles would only turn the ball over seven times.
Berea College defeated Ohio Christian in the day’s first game, 73-61. Berea will take on Central Christian on Saturday at 12 p.m. while the Eagles battle Ohio Christian at 4 p.m.
