Eagles Blow Away Principia

Ellen GrayWILMORE, Ky. – Asbury held Principia under 20 points in each half en route to a blowout 68-33 win over the Panthers on Saturday.  The Eagles held a 41-14 lead at halftime as 12 different players scored in the game.

Ellen Gray knocked down six-of-seven threes off the bench for Asbury as she scored a team-high 18 points.  She is now just one three behind all-time leader Brittany Abbott’s (2005-2008) 174 career record.  Trenia Barbee added 14 points and 12 rebounds, her first double-double in an Eagle uniform. 

For the second time in three games the Eagles held their opponent under 30% shooting from the floor as the Panthers made only 29% of their shots and only one-of-seven from three-point range.  The Eagles shot 42% in the first half but cooled off in the second and finished at 36%.  Asbury connected on 11 more three-pointers in the game, they were fifth in NAIA DII in three-pointers made coming into the game.

Lindsay Syndess scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for Principia.  She also added five blocks.  Asbury forced 30 turnovers as they recorded 15 steals, led by Barbee’s three.

Asbury will be back in action after Thanksgiving as they head to Cincinnati-Clermont on Tuesday November 29th.
